Frustrations? Where to get input from? ...

Tuesday, September 21, 2010. I had a chat with some colleague recently. He is slightly older than I am and he is working in our environment already for some years. He told me that there is a point where you cannot put too much power into your job any more. You cannot give and give all the time. There needs to be a point where things get normal somehow …

Need for a rest or even Burn-Out? …

My colleague is definitely right in the sense that you need a balance and it is very important to find times of rest. The daily power play will not work forever. There need to be times where things are going slower, where you do not only sprint but also longer distances. Life is not a sprint, but more a marathon!

But how do we get new strength? How do we renew our goals, our motivation, our whole setup on a regular basis? Where do we renew ourselves?

Of course, it can be a good idea to take some days off. It is a great idea to find enough sleep. Some people just need to relax a little bit, watch some films, talk to friends and get distance to the daily tasks.

Others try to start something different. They start a new hobby. Some play music. They go to Australia for the summer or to some remote place in Africa.

Read the book every day …

I realized that there is something else which can be very important. Jesus once brought the story of the vine and the branches (John 15: 5). He said, that he is the vine and we are the branches. We need to be with him and come to him to get new power, new motivation, to renew ourselves.

Reading the bible can be such a renewing point every day. When we look through the words of Jesus, when we understand what he is telling us, when we pick it up and integrate it into our life, into our thoughts, into our heart, then some miracle can happen day by day. It is the miracle of God's presence in our life, the miracle of his strength in our days.

Getting daily input from the Lord is a blessing which can be fantastic. Let us search it today and tomorrow! ... more texts
