Prayer Time ...

Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Do you have your personal prayer time? Do you have a time where you sit or stand or walk somewhere, no one disturbs you, no internet, no telephone, no friends or family …?

Time to Think …

Prayer time can be a time to think. What is going on in my life? What are the challenges? What is keeping me busy? How do I spend the time which is given to me?

Prayer time is different from just some leisure time. In leisure we spend time to do something different from our profession or job. But in prayer time we spend time with the Lord. It might be a time of meditation or thinking, but it is a time of meditation with the Lord, of thinking about what the Lord says.

Prayer time is a time of conversation. A time of talking to the Lord, telling him how I feel. And it is a time of listening to what he says about my experiences, about my problems, about my goals and wishes.

Prayer is time to think … that is really true. I can think about the possibilities or the impossibilities. I can think about what to do or what to stop. I can think about changing my behaviour, my approach, my commitment …

God's Guidance …

I can also ask God for guidance! God, what do YOU think about my activities here, about my behaviour, about the people I am living with, about problems with this or that person? God, help me and give me advice. Guide me. Change me. Lead me to do the right thing, to go the right steps!

There are several possibilities to listen to the Lord. They are not independent from each other, you cannot just leave one and replace it by the other. They are all one whole path, with different components which constitute a healthy way to communicate with the Lord.

The components are: Reading God's word, the bible. Listening to him in Prayer. Acting, when we have started to understand what he wants. All three things are needed, all three are crucial! ... more texts
