God is great ...

Friday, May 20, 2011. God is great. That is something which comes to my mind immediately when I ask myself: what would you write about God?

Why is God great? …

God is an enormous God! He is larger than the universe. I am a very tine little human, even if I have achieved everything I could have ever imagined on this planet. Even if you have conquered half of the world - you would still be extremely tiny compared to God, the creator of the universe. God is great is just a small echo of the facts, just in terms of size!

God is great, if I look at quality of nature. Our science is dealing with nature, we try to see, try to find out, try to structure our knowledge, try to understand. And we find fantastic structures, on all dimensions. We find wonderful processes on a microscopic level, the chemical substances in any plant or in our body act as a part of complex processes. All that is extremely fascinating, it is God's creation, a great creation from a great God! God is great in terms of complexity!

Nature is beautiful! Animals are beautiful. Humans are beautiful. Everyone of us knows that we can be completely amazed bz beauty. We can even be dedicated to someone or something just because she or he or it is so beautiful. But all this beauty has a source. It comes from the power, who created it all, who has a deep and far reaching sense of beauty on all levels of life. God is absolutely great in terms of beauty.

Salvation …

Often, people say that God is great because he helped them in a particular matter. He helped, he kept them save or healed them, he saved them.

In fact, God's primary role when we look into the gospels, into the New Testament, is salvation. He wants us to come back to him, to get a renewed relationship to him. He wants to save us from being lost in space, being lost in a world which is separated from him. He was and is and will be - and everything or everybody who is not linked to him, who is not “in him”, will be lost forever, above time. That is the background of the salvation message which Jesus taught.

The salvation “in Christ” saves us from loosing ourselves to the wrong things. It keeps us linked to the source of life. It helps us to stay tuned, tuned to God, tuned to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Salvation is something, which is very easy, on one level, and full of deep wisdom on another. Salvation in Jesus is the driving force of Christianity, and it is life indeed, true life, eternal life, a new reality in and with us. Salvation is made by a great God, great in terms of love and help and his wonderful presence today! ... more texts
