Forgiveness II ...

Thursday, Oct 6, 2011. There is a special type of forgiveness, which is usually not put into the center of our discussion. But it is very important. It is about our own life, about who we are and who we want to be …

Angry with Life and God …

Am I happy with the life I have? What about the circumstances of my life, what about my job? What about the flat I am living in, my friends? What about my own appearance, my body, my weight, my hair, my nose? What about success and money?

We might not be where we want to be. For example, I might not have the job I want to have. Of course, I could try to change my job. But that is not always easy. It might need years, and sometimes it is just impossible due to limitations in my education and possibly in my family.

There are enough people who are angry with life and angry with God about their own life. They are not as pretty as they want to be. They are not as rich as they would like to be. They are not intelligent enough or they are intelligent but could not exploit it properly.

Forgiveness is Needed …

We need forgiveness when we are angry about our life. But here it is us who need to forgive. We need to forgive life and God for what we are, for the choices he made when he made us. We need to let go and accept us as we are.

The New Testament often talks about God to be the Lord. We put our life into his hands. But that also means that we forgive all what we are, that we accept it and let our anger go. In fact, we will realize that God gave us much, that we are indeed a large treasure. We, as we are, are unique and fantastic. Every single person on the planet is a whole creation by itself, wonderfully made. But often we do not realize this, we think that we need to reach this or that, to be acceptable or to be of value.

Forgiveness has many directions and levels. To forgive God for the way he made us is a key step of faith. Then, when we freed our view, we are open to see us as we are and to see the world in His light. (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
