Go Wild ...

Monday, Nov 14, 2011. Sometimes I want to go wild. Sometimes I want to go beyond all limits. I want to destroy the walls and rules which surround me. I want to do things which are crazy - or which might even be good, I just don't want to think about it …!

Tear the walls down! …

It is said that to be creative you also have to be destructive. When you want to build something new, you also need to be able to destroy. Only when there is clear new space, you can create something new!

Over the past two decades I have also realized that to be creative you also need to be a little ignorant. You just do what you think needs to be done. You don't care about what is there, just go ahead. For me that worked fine, usually, I found that the things which I did when I just explored some subject, usually were partly new and exciting. Partly I recovered long known knowledge, but since I had gone deeply into it, I really understood it by doing it my way!

I want to “do it my way” - that is also very important when you become an artist. In art it is crucial to develop your own style …! Be yourself, evolve your gifts and capabilities and your personality, it is unique!

Wild with respect …

When you go wild as a Christian, it is limited by the respect and consideration which the Lord brings into our life. We do not just destroy, we take care of the people it affects. We will be careful, it is being wild in a modest way. But I like being wild like that, as long as it keeps the original moments in it, the will to go ahead and do something new, to go beyond the limits …

I believe that our ability to do something new, to improve sincerely, to create new worlds, new ways to deal with things, new towns, new countries, etc etc. is inspired by the creativity of the Lord. He is the creator and he is creating! And we are linked to him, we are his creation with significant creative capabilities!

The Old Testament is full of examples of creativity in the name of the Lord. When the temple was built, it was a fantastic sign of creativity which arose full of faith. Building up a new society in the promised land was full of challenges and creativity. Jesus said he would tear down the temple and build a new one within three days.
