Change Processes ...

Thursday, November 17, 2011. Working in larger organizations one has to fight the inefficient administrative processes which we all have. We want to change such processes into something which is working well, which is supporting the work of scientists, which is supporting the product development and sales …

How do we make change happen? …

How do we make change happen? In a larger organization? Even in a smaller group? When people have don something in a particular way already for years, how do you make change happen?

Often, there are particular structures and hierarchies. The workers are not responsible for the full process, they just see the inefficiencies and have their own workarounds. The leaders do not understand the details, and they usually are under pressure to reach this or that. It is not their main concern to change the structure, and often it is even not in their responsibility, but several higher level leaders need to work together. So change never happens - only if everything is under strong pressure since due to failure of the whole system.

So change management is a key task in any larger organization - and I believe even in smaller units, little churches, institutes etc it is a key topic which is usually not completely understood.

He is bringing change by the power of the Holy Spirit. He brings change by what he did and does in Jesus. He brings change by his presence.

The New Testament speaks of a transformation of our life, which is brought to us by faith. Through faith we become part of his kingdom. And there are other rules in his kingdom than in our regular world. His rule is justice, truth, love, humility. His rule is solidarity, empathy, appreciation. It is breathtaking to study the character of God. And it is even more breathtaking if we understand that we are all called to take part in this character, to manage our own change, to be transformed into something which is like him in spirit!

God's power to change things will show itself in our life. It will also show itself in our worldly activities. Prayer connects us to his power, to his presence and to his possibilities in the middle of our work, of our family and our friends. And prayer will be a key part of the change he is bringing to us day by day … (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
