Search the Lord ...

Wednesday, January 30, 2013. We had a topical evening last night in our church about “dreams, prayer and action”. We took some time to dream together. In a meditation phase at the beginning, we had a “guided dream”, going into a world where we could fly, where we experienced clouds and thunder, but also saw the sun and brilliant mountain tops, … then coming home to old friends in our dream and waking up changed by what we had gone through. We asked ourselves: what are our hopes and desires? What are our fears? Where do we want to go? What is it that fills us with joy?

Discern the dreams …

We then listened together to some videos of Nick Vujicic. His story is very inspiring, when it comes to living with limits, but at the same time learning how to overcome them and learning to realize that God has a plan for us, which uses our limits. He gives our life a purpose beyond our imagination!

Then, we looked into the story of Josef in the Old Testament. He had dreams - and his dreams became reality after many years. He was faithful and obedient, and God gave his blessing into his life.

One key question which was discussed last night was: how do I know, whether a dream is from God or just my own dream? We need to discern the ideas and thoughts. We need to distinguish dreams which help us and dreams which just reflect our fears and the unconscious parts of our mind!

Search him …

**

One key answer to the question how we distinguish is: we need to search the Lord day by day. We need to know his word, the biblical books of the Old Testament and the New Testament. He will not guide us against his own word. He will not guide us against his own plans with mankind. When we search him, he will fill us with his spirit. And we will know, where he wants to go with us.

The topic of “searching the Lord” was part of our discussion as well. We had several young people among us, who need to plan their life after school. They need to find out, where they want to go - and where the Lord wants them to go. Some think about going to bible school. Others want to start studies at some university. Others again do not know yet …

The Lord is there and wants us to come to him. He wants us to ask him, to talk to him, to listen to him. He has so many possibilities. His spirit is fantastic - better than anything we know on earth. His ideas and plans for us open new worlds and fill us with joy and satisfaction. It is good to search the Lord, to go to him in prayer, and to spend time with him to become calm, to gain new strength, to listen to him … ... more texts
