Reliability, Creativity, Thoroughness …

When it comes to work, you want people to be reliable in what they do. You want them to do it well - to have talent and skills. Depending on what they do you need some creativity, but for almost everything you need thoroughness and care.

It can depend on the particular job, what thoroughness means. There are degrees of detail, which are too much under some circumstances. And there is the big question of depth and impact and perspective. For example, you might have some deep technological ideas. They are far reaching and are likely to have a lot of impact. Some people have more talent in the developing core ideas, others are better in working out the important details. They all are needed - and need to find their role!

When it comes to relationships, what behaviour do we need here? I would say it is first truth, we need to know that the others are consistent in what they say. That means: they do not tell us some things and the contrary to others. It is a kind of realiability - very important. You cannot build up anything, if truthfulness is not present.

Psalms - the Great Adventure …

When we start reading the Psalms, we find a lot of discussion of human behaviour. Here, it is about our principles, about the guidelines of our behaviour. The writer talks about deep promises, which are given to those who follow the Lord, the eternal God. Let us listen …

1 Blessed is the man1 who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. It is great to hear these clear guidelines. We need to hear them, to believe, to want them - and then to act. That is all very important. All what we hear here is linked to the Lord, to the eternal God. He is the one who can help, who will fulfil his promises.
