See God's Glory ...

Thursday, May 24, 2018. Can we see God's glory? The bible describes God as the holy creator of the universe. God is fantastic, and there are several lines of argument which describe the beauty and fascination which of God. Let us look into this, let us explore God's glory!

Creation, Holiness, Humanity

God is the creator, he has made all what is. We can grasp his glory by looking at nature. Planets, plants, animals and humans, it is all reflecting his glory. And indeed, most of us have a sense for the beauty of nature. When you travel around our fantastic planet, the diversity is breathtaking, its beauty can silence us completely.

Second, God's glory is based on his holiness. He is pure and true. He is clear and without any lie. He is trustworthy and faithful. God is love, the bible tells us. And indeed, his character and nature are far beyond what we can imagine in terms of faithfulness and love.

Third, God created humans, and did much more than that. In Christ Jesus, he became human himself, through his son Jesus. The bible describes the unity of God in father, son and holy spirit - and it describes that Jesus became flesh, to live with us. God's glory has come into creation in human form, fully human.

1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. (Hebrews 1)

What does it mean …

What does it mean for me today? What is the influence, the result, the role of God's glory in my life?

First of all, God is present. He is there, everywhere he surrounds us by his spirit. He wants us to take him serious, to count on him. He wants to be the center of our life - as he is and has always been the center of all creation. So he is an invitation himself: come to me, be with me!

God's presence can change our day. It can change our life. Indeed, it WILL change our life, when we get into contact to him. God's glory wants to be in our life, to shine on our life, to make our life bright and light. It is not a remote glory, he is there to be the core! He is there to be the driver. He is there to be father and mother, friend and lover, guide and helper, companion and strength.

It is a breathtaking adventure of a special kind, when you take God's glory serious, his truthfulness and love. It might not solve all your problems instantly, but it will change them, and it will transform your attitude and approach to life. Come and see! (Roland Potthast) ... further texts
