Friday, May 7, 2021. There are many intelligent people on the planet. Intelligence means to be able to plan in a complex way, to understand how things work and how you can influence them. But there is more than intelligence.
There are thieves, who know exactly, how to break into a house. They know the weaknesses of the doors. They know where people fail to be careful. They observe the behaviour of the inhabitants. There is evil intelligence, yes, it exists. There are different types of understanding. Technically, they might be the same with respect to the ability to see mechanisms. But the full framework is very different.
His Perspective gives Wisdom …
How do you build your house? The book of proverbs in the Old Testament gives many thoughts on sustainability of actions. It gives advice for those who want to listen. Its perspective is beyond a mere worldly viewpoint. It sees the whole. It sees you, your environment, mankind and the eternal God and father. In proverbs 24 it says:
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; 4 by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. (Proverbs 24, 3-4)
How do you gain reasonable ressources for your life? What is the main point? The Old Testament points to the Lord, to God, the creator and maintainer. When you search him, and when you are eager and industrious in your actions, you will florish. When you search justice, when you exercise mercy in your heart, in your mind and through your actions, then you will florisch. The Lord does not forget you, when you search him. He even does not forget you, when you do not want him. He still searches you and longs for you.
Build Your House …
How do you need to build your house, your job, your life, your family, your hobby? Do it with wisdom! Do it with understanding. The understanding, which is meant here, is the wisdom of the holy spirit, the spirit of the Lord. You can get access to it when you search him. Today, through Christ Jesus we can enter. In Jesus we have an open door. The New Testament is good news indeed.
For many years I have been following the Lord, have been trying to understand his ways. These ways are truly amazing. They are not always easy. There are challenges. There are difficulties. There is uncertainty in life. But his wisdom really helps and works. His widsom is mercy, it is modesty and humility, it is love, it is justice (paired with mercy!).
Christian faith is full of passion, and full of reason! God wants my heart. And God wants my brain, my intellect, my full understanding. When I put it all in, he builds myself, the house of my life, my body, my needs, my desires. It is so good, believe me! He is so good. (Roland Potthast)
