No encouragement.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Is there a place where all encouragement needs to be silent?

There are things on earth which can silence us. If nothing works any more. If all our strategies to encourage ourselves are gone. If we are at the end, then all words should be silent. Then, there is no empty speech any more. Nothing can revive any illusion. In this situation, there is no encouragement which would help. All words sound empty, all positivity has vaporized, everything which had a future is gone. There is no future any more. No actions any more. No building any more. Nothing helps. There is a word for this: death.

There are many things, many actions, many events which can cause death. Death in our soul can happen on various levels. We might be dead for truth, dead for integrity, dead for a life which can find hope. We might be dead for hope, dead for love, dead for health. When someone we loved strongly dies we are dead for life! Death is just making an end. Death is taking away. Death is causing pain - before it kills and afterwards.

Jesus has experienced death. He went to the cross. He cried out loud: “My Lord, my Lord, why have you abandoned me?” (Matth 27, 46) Jesus experienced this state, where all encouragement must end. There were not empty words, no nice colleagues saying: “oh, well, don't worry, it'll be all right.” This was finished, gone, terminated. No, there must be a better hope. “Eli” - my Lord! Only when you reach this state you are ripe for faith! Only here you will get to know him, who is life and hope himself. There is no empty “don't worry”. But there is another “don't worry”. One, which comes when all worries have gone, when hope has gone, when fights have gone. There is another hope, another life, another future to gain. It is the future of the Lord.
