Planning.

Thursday, May 28, 2009. Currently in the Jesus Network we are concerned with our years planning from Summer 2009 to Summer 2010. What are the hot topics? Which basic questions need to be addressed? What will be the further structure for our development? Where do we need to go? What do we know about God's will for us such that we can follow him?

Planning is an important issue. Without planning you cannot start larger tasks. Without planning you will be drawn here or there, will live in a state of chaos only. A life without planning looks like a random walk, which is pushed here or there by stochastic influences. Planning is important - and it is then also important to stick to things which have been planned, to go and draw the straight line by actions and focussed efforts.

We need to keep in mind though that all our planning needs to be flexible. The apostles advise us not to be too shure about our plans (James 4,15), and Proverbs 16,9 says: “The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps” and 19,21: “Many plans are in a man's heart, but the counsel of the LORD will stand”. So it is good to make plans, but God himself will direct our path.

Often I feel full of ideas, full of fascinating plans. I am motivated to do various things - but I need decisions what to start and what to leave to the side. To do this with purpose and sustainability wisdom is strongly needed. Lord, we need your wisdom to plan and to act. We need it in all parts of our life, from family to finances, from business to science. God knows much better what is good than we do, he has a deep and astonishing masterplan for mankind, for every single human. He has goals far beyond our little egoistic goals. We should be keen to learn about HIS plans, to learn about his road map for human development. [R.W.E.P., jesusnetwork.eu]
