Shadow above my head ...

Tuesday, Jan 21, 2014. There are days, where I live as with a shadow above my head. It is like a little thundercloud, which lets everything appear in slightly darker colors.

Strange days, hurt and wounded …

These days are strange. Sometimes, they start with something which is not working. My car is not working. The light of my bike fails. I take out the second light, which I carry for this type of situation. And it also fails. I search for a parking place, but all are occupied.

But often, there are deeper things, which cause the dark cloud above my head. Someone says things which hurt me or demotivate me. There are deeper problems, which are there all the time. Or they appear in my conscience when some particular phrases are said. My thoughts start to circle around the problem. They start to circle around the things which have been said. Words and phrases start a dark dance in my mind.

This phenomenon of the circle of thoughts is widely spread. It is there in my mind, sometimes. But it is also there with many of us. When talking to a friend last week, we realized this circles again when it came to her relationship, which just broke up. It needs a lot of time, to overcome deep wounds. We need healing of our soul, healing of our mind, healing of our heart.

The world is not the just world which we would like it to be. It is a world with a lot of differences, and a lot of injustice. Why do some hunger, others have plenty. That is not justice! Why are some hurt, why? Why is there illness and death?

Justice? …

The bible does not tell us, that the world is just. It is not - and it even tells us that we ourselves are not just. When we investigate ourselves, we realize that we are not. We are not, what we sometimes think. Illusion is part of our life.

But there is light. There is light in the middle of our world. There is light in the middle of darkness. The cloud, which covers our head and our heart, does not need to stay. There is light coming from Christ Jesus. He knows our heart. He knows our wounds. He knows what makes us suffer.

And Jesus has gone to the cross, to help us. He has gone to die, to heal our heart and our soul. All injustice, which is in us and in others, is taken into the grave with Jesus. That is part of the core Christian message. If you suffer, because your own heart is not just, the light which Jesus brings, the healing which he brings, can help you and can heal you. His power is first a power of the heart. It is the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are invited to give our heart to Jesus, such that he can heal it. We are invited to give our whole life to him, such that he can heal it and use it to live in his light and to learn his light. This is called “salvation” - and indeed, it is. (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
