I wait for you, Lord! ...

Friday, Mar 14, 2014. Sometimes we are caught by something in a state of weakness. When you have fought hard, and you reached a lot, and then you need some rest. In the state of weakness, you are vulnerable. In the state of weakness a lot of things can happen.

Searching for advice and help …

I am searching for advice and help in important questions. Where can I turn? I turn to the Lord. I find consolation in the Psalms:

1 A Song of Ascents. Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! 2 O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! 3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6 my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. 8 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. (Psalm 130, 1-8)

There is a deep and important promise here. With the Lord there is steadfast love, with him there is plentiful redemption. He is the great saviour, for all what we are.

Steady state of love? …

In our business world, usually we do not find a steady state of love. It is more a steady state of conflict. In all of this we need the Lord more than we often see and think. We need his humility. We need his love, his truth, and we also need his support. How could we stand the daily problems without knowing him and his steadfast love?

The psalmist here expresses his strong longing for the Lord. “My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.” I must say that my own soul completely resonates with this longing. It is my own longing which is expressed here in these songs which are thousands of years old.

I know that the Lord is good, that he will not let me wait too long when I ask him to come. I know that he has be my consolation many times, and that he will be my consolation also this time, when new trouble started to hit me. Come, my Lord, please come! Come with your wisdom, with your advice, with your Holy Spirit … (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
