Faith and Wonder ...

It affects our thoughts, our feelings, our actions, our relationships. It will have strong impact on how we approach our days, what we do and want! And it has various effects on what will happen in our environment! Let us discuss the relationship of faith and wonder …

Wonder comes …

We are told that God is almighty, that nothing is impossible for the Lord. We are not told that we stay free of trouble. But we are promised that if we trust him, if we live with and “in” Jesus, then he will be with us in all our trouble. He will help, he will save and reconcile. There is a strong link between faith and the miraculous interaction of God.

Many generations of Christians have been challenged with this relationship between faith and wonder. Even at the very beginning, the disciples had their difficulties with a faith which enables God to miraculously interact. Too often, our faith is very little! But even then, breathtaking things can happen. Let us listen to one of the key stories about faith and wonder:

22 One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, 23 and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. 24 And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” (Luke 8, 22ff)

Why not? …

Why should God not do wonders in our life? Why should he not do wonders, day by day. We do not need those big things, where people are surprised and talk about it for years. God can do so much without big publicity. He has everything in his hands - and the goal we have is not publicity but healthy relationships. We want to do our work, we want to have a sound basis in our community built on truth and love and support. We want honesty, but also kindness.

I see the biggest wonders, where God helps us to change our heart. The biggest wonder is where he helps us to live a life in him and with him, where we are no longer following the illusions of our time, but where we start to live with our feet on the ground, where we are linked to the true reality. Humans are made to believe. Humans are made to love one another, to help one another, to work with and for one another. Humans are made to enjoy one another, to admire one another, to do good to one another.

God, our father, let our little faith experience your wonders of love and truth in our life day by day, minute by minute. Thank you for the Holy Spirit! You are magnificent. (RWEP) ... more texts
