A fresh breath ...

Monday, Feb 15, 2016. For our life we need a fresh breath. It is very important for us to get this fresh breath again and again in what we do, in our routine, our days, our job, our relationships. How do you get impulses, how do you renew yourself? How do you get out and start new? Is it possible? What do you have to do to reach a new beginning, a fresh breath?

Impulses from a vibrant town …

Over the past days I have taken some time to get inspired on the level of my work. First, I attended a workshop, which was with people not in my traditional area, but another related field. I have moved towards it, but I have never been in a meeting with this type of research, though I now partly work in it. It was very interesting, and very refreshing! I could contribute our applications, giving an invited talk, with many nice discussions.

I also took time to perceive the feeling of the big and vibrant town we have been in, the city of London. Here you find many people from all different nations. Young and old, many businessmen, but also tourists, families, old couples … London is just nice, every time I go there I like it, with all its traffic and crowds, with its culture and business, with its many universities and institutes.

Third, I took a day to go to some museums. I love to do this when I am on a business trip - and each and every time I do it, it is great. Looking into many thousand years of history, into the difficulties of people in the medieval ages with healthcare, into the wars and struggle which has been there already 500 BC between Persia and the Greeks - many things sound like a precursor or repetition of modern struggle, always with similar templates. It was inspiring to go through many cultures, styles and human art from many nations!

Refreshing Stream …

I also took time for prayer. And I came to the sentence from the prophet Ezekiel, where he speaks about the refreshing river which comes from the temple of God. He talks about the Holy Spirit, about God's mercy which wants to renew our life.

9 And wherever the river goes,4 every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. (Ezekiel 47,9)

We live in a time today where the Holy Spirit is freely available through faith in Christ Jesus. We can be renewed - not only by inspiring workshops, towns or museums. Not only by art, but much deeper within us, by the Holy Spirit of the living God. He can give us freedom from many pressures. He can heal old wounds, and also the injuries which we caused ourselves, by our own actions. He can give us a fresh start, and new healing, day by day! (RWEP) ... more texts
