Ideas for us 2 - Friendly Help Everywhere ...

Wednesday, August 25, 2010. We continue with “ideas for us”, ideas for our modern world, ideas where we should go, what we could or should do. Ideas which can shape our world since they attract humans and help to further develop society.

But we will also ask what God thinks about our ideas. We ask what he wants, what he tells us about our ideas and our goals. We want to ask him to tell us his goals and to guide us to a deeper understanding of the world we live in.

Friends where ever we go …

Imagine a world where you will meet friends where ever you go! Imagine you have to travel to another town, and you will know that you will find friendly people there, which help with whatever difficulties arise …

Imagine that people will be helpful, friendly and supportive where ever you come. If you need a new passport, they help you with all you need to provide. If you need to renovate your apartment, you quickly find advice and even helping hands. People understand your personal situation and try to act in a way that fits you best.

Imagine you want to start some studies or some training, and there are people helping you to get all the information you need. They provide advice and enable you to make sound decisions.

How great would a world be where you would know, that all the help you need will come! Is this just a dream?

The Lord is my Shepherd …!

When we look into the New Testament, we find this dream of a friendly world reflected in a particular way. The world is not necessarily such a friendly place, that is stated clearly. But there is a different dimension, there is a different spirit, there is a different power which is entering the world. The Lord is there, … and “the Lord is my shepherd”!

The Lord gives us a promise. He says: “I am with you” (Matthew 28: 20). He is there, where ever we go. He is there in the different challenges. He is there when we need a passport. He is there when we need to renovate our apartment. He is there when we start studies or training. He is there every day.

The Lord's presence does not mean that everyone will be friendly. But the Lord is friendly. And he gives advice, if we ask him. And he guides us. And he helps us. There might still be challenges and problems, there might be pain and suffering. But he is there, he will not leave us. And his mighty hand will not let us go!
