Privately ...

Thursday, Feb 21, 2013. A relationship needs exchange and time. It is good to have time together in a private environment. Only privatly we can exchange things which might not be made for the general public. When we talk about hopes and fears, about difficulties and problems, privacy is crucial!

Me and the Lord …

Could you imagine that God wants to have some privacy with you personally? When we read the New Testament, we hear that Jesus took time to be alone with God, with his heavenly father. He went onto some mountain to pray, to spend time with God, to listen and to hear what God had to say.

Could it be that it is an important part of faith, to spend time with the Lord in privacy? Many times, the apostles talk about prayer, about continuing prayer, as important part of faith life. It is difficult to imagine that this does not involve privacy with the Lord. It means to go to God in prayer, to bring him all what we carry around, hopes and difficulties alike, and to listen to him and hear what he has to say and how he sees things.

When I am alone with the Lord, it is like a fantastic meal, like a feast. The holy spirit is a source of wisdom, a source of peace, a source of strength and truth and love and joy. Opening my mind and my heart to him is like opening the door to life!

When we talk about joy, we can talk about the joy which we might feel when we get something. But there is another joy, a much deeper joy. It is a joy which is not linked to presents. It is not linked to success. It is not linked to well-being. It is not linked to the many things which happen around us every day. There is a joy which is directly linked to the holy spirit!

The joy, which has been promised by the angels when Jesus was born, refers to the deep joy which God himself brings. This joy is refreshing. It is making us glad. It is making us sing. It makes us being friendly. It makes us laugh. It fills us with grace and love.

The joy which the Lord brings can change our life significantly. It is part of a transformation, which renews our whole existence. Faith is much more than just believing something. Faith is more than just thinking, some statements would be true. It is more than ethics. It is a change which comes when we are filled with the holy spirit. It is a transformation of who and what we are - by the power of the almighty Lord. It is something starting now, through and in faith. It will be complete in a new creation, when his kingdom fully reigns. ... more texts
