Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Jesus had a far reaching vision of people living together in the love, the truth and grace of the eternal God. He had ideas about our existence, our thoughts, our reasoning and our behavior, which exceed by far any realization of a human society which has been reached over the last 2000 years of history. And Jesus says he wants to reach all this not by a revolution, not by force, but by individuals changing their life by free will, by faith.

Of course, Christian faith is not something which is purely about social change. But it is neither something which is purely about eternity. Today western societies have put faith into the private realm - but faith has important implications for society. We cannot believe and keep our behavior as if God would not exist! Jesus wants us to put God's agenda into the center of our life. We will not be able to keep other things in this center.

Living Christian ideas in the spirit of Jesus is fascinating. But it is not easy as well. We are all part of our social environment, we need to work, need to deal with customers or colleagues. Without care and dedication good work will not be carried out, so we need to develop this care and dedication in our jobs - which balancing it with other demands within the larger picture. It is extremely interesting to work on this work-life balance from a Christian perspective - with Jesus words and spirit as driving force. [R.P., Reading, UK]
