Monday, Oct 19, 2009. The Beatles had the right feeling for big crowds, when they sung their “Love, love, love”. We long for love, we want love, love is important to us deep inside. Today we have the “Love Parade” and we talk about “making love”. It is possible to “buy love”, and sex and love have been filling magazines and novels ever since.

Love is a key word for Christian faith. God is said to be “the love”, as the apostle John phrases it. Jesus talked about his love to his disciples. He talked about the love among the disciples. The apostle Paul wrote the “song of love” in his letter to the church in Corinth. Then love is a continuing topic for the apostles. Without love there is no faith.

Love is in the magazines, but at the same time we all struggle to find to true love. We have the love parade, but at the same time we live together in a way as if we would be thieves and robbers, taking away from each other as much as we can. Experiencing and practicing love is one of the hardest modules ever for us.

We will explore the different levels of love this week. We will dig out these millennium songs and millennium words of the apostles about love. We will need to talk about the practice of love, about our partner, about our children and parents, about our colleagues and friends, about our neighbors and our society.

We also want to talk a little bit about physical love, about tenderness, about contact and touch, about kindness and friendship, about sexual relationships. Love is much more than sex and sex which is not immersed in love will cause damage.

As a key point when we talk about love, we want to discover God's love to us. He is the origin of our love. He is the center of love and when we want to learn love, we should go to him. God's love is new every morning. It does not age. It does not pass away. It does not fade. His love is as fresh as a spring morning, as strong as the heat of a summer day, as mild as the autumn wind of early September. His love covers your weaknesses and makes them as white as the new snow in January, when the year starts afresh, with new possibilities and new options.
