I talked a little bit to her - and since I have been working with this for many years now, I could help. But it is not her point, she needs to understand and learn herself, needs to acquire the knowledge which is there already. So the main point is how to get into your head and your heart what is there …

Wisdom and Knowledge …

We live in a time where knowledge is everywhere. Millions of scientists worldwide try to acquire knowledge, try to make progress, write it down, publish it, make it useful, apply it, work with it. Manufacturing processes use and nurture deep knowledge about what is possible. You will find basic knowledge and new knowledge at universities, but also in many small and large-scale companies around the globe!

Where do you find the wisdom and knowledge which helps you to lead your life? Where do you find peace? Where do you find knowledge which is sufficient? Where to be saved from the wheel of “more and more”, from the ever continuing phenomenon of “not enough”? The apostle Paul points us to Christ Jesus. In him, we find a wisdom beyond all what we are used to day by day, have a look:

1 For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. 5 For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits1 of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. (Colossians 2, 1-10)

Christ as source and goal …

Christ is the center of a knowledge which is beyond our scientific knowledge. Paul claims that in him the fullness of God dwells bodily. In him, we meet God, the creator, the source and ultimate goal of all creation. That is of course a monumental claim. If it is true, it is breathtaking and astonishing! Can we see it, can we verify it? You need to look at Jesus, need to get to know him, need to test this claim yourself!

When Paul claims, that in Christ there is all wisdom and knowledge, he does not mean that Christ is the super scientist, who answers all scientific questions. This statement is meant in another way. In Christ our life becomes complete. Here, we find a home and peace. Here, we find back to a balanced approach to life, we find back to the source. Here, we find true life, since our needs and desires are fulfilled.

In Christ we find good advice. Not stupid dump rules! We find living help, day by day. We find a spirit which is full of tenderness and kindness. It is a spirit which enables us to forgive, to let go, to be renewed and reconciled. It is the power of love - we have talked about this yesterday.
