Prayer Time II.

Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Prayer needs a decision to pray now. There are days when I do not pray. It is a shame, but it happens! Often I am so busy and so many things happen, that I do not even have any thought about prayer. Other days are so calm that I think I can postpone prayer for a while - and then it never happens.

But there are many other days when I pray. Prayer is great - I always enjoy it strongly. I cannot remember a time over the last years where I was not encouraged and consolidated by prayer, where it did not change my thinking, where it did not influence my day on various levels. Prayer is just fantastic.

What is happening in prayer such that it can be fantastic? Think about someone who has fallen in love. He might think about his loved one and just enjoy the thought. He is looking forward to the next meeting and he is happy because of the fact that the other is there. This source of joy can be quite tiny, but with strong effects. With God it is like this, but also a little different - since God is not remote. God's spirit is everywhere, in particular when you pray he is there. So prayer can be part of a real exchange between you and the Lord.

Prayer needs a decision to give it a start. This decision will be easy when we get to know the Lord, the eternal one, when we start to be amazed about his beauty, when we fall in love with him. [R.W.E.P., jesusnetwork.eu]
