Does God hear? What does he do? ...

Wednesday, Jan 27, 2016. If you are in trouble, and turn to the Lord, does he hear? You might say: of course he hears. Or you might say: he does not hear, he does not exist. But the question is a real question, if you are in trouble and if you are a believer. What will God do? Does he help you, and how? Do you have to stay in your trouble, your pain, your illness or your confusion?

Longing for him …

When you are in trouble, time is long. When you are hard pressed, you long for relief, for peace, for help. And sometimes you need patience. Sometimes you need to be still and wait. Not much you can do!

Reality can be strange. We had a nice colleague in our university. He went to a conference, and took of to a little hiking tour a day before. He fell and died - just suddenly, out of nowhere. Reality can be strange, and it can strike you. You do not know the end of your days! You do not know what the next day will bring, or the next hour. It can be good, and it can be pain!

We are longing for him, for the Lord. We need his spirit, his wisdom, understanding, forgiveness and love in all parts of our life. We need you so much, Lord! Holy God! Let us read from Psalm 94, where the song writer talks about foolishness and wisdom, about how the Lord disciplines us, and that he will not forsake you. “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul!” Please read:

“Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord!” God cares about us, and he wants to lead us to life, to true life. This needs hard steps sometimes. We feel bad, we feel hit, we feel let down. But we are not. We, who want his help and his advice, are helped. His help can be quite clear and strong - he is the Lord, with a mighty hand. Some of our trouble might just be the Lord, who guides us on his path of life!

“When I thought, my foot slips …”. We can be there, where we loose control. Where we make mistakes, even big mistakes. Where we were not cautious enough, where we fail. We can experience the slip of our foot. But we will also see: “your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up”, as the song writer says. His love is there with us forever! (RWEP) ... more texts
