Man needs God ...

Man and God …

Man has been created by the Lord - in the image of the Lord. According to the biblical account man has been created to live in community with God. We are made to be with him. Without him we lack some crucial part of our life.

We could, of course, approach this from the outside, from a life without God. When you don't know the Lord, things might seem unclear or even strange. But even then you realize how much our world is lacking justice, love, truth, solidarity and perspective. Even without faith we realize how urgently we need change, how urgently we need something else! We might not know that it is the Lord we search - if we do not know him -, but we know that things are not good as they are … We dream of heros. We dream of a life in security and adventure. We dream of a home, where we are fully accepted and loved.

The bible provides a different perspective, coming from the Lord and his eternal life. He is justice, he is truth, he is life and love and dedication. We have lost him and we need him. Only with him we get back where we belong. Only with him our deepest desires are fulfilled. Only with him we get back home!

Biblical Inspiration …

The bible calls it salvation, when we find back to the Lord. We are saved from a life without him, from being lonely and lost in this world. And indeed, it seems unbelievable when you first hear about it, but the Lord with his Holy Spirit is a reality, which can fill your heart and mind with peace and joy on a deep level of your existence.

The biblical books are made to be a continuous source of inspiration. They are not just books for once, books about a historical event. They are designed as a source of encouragement, a source of learning, a source of the spirit. They are inspired - written by men filled with the Holy Spirit. We need God to be with us every day, and he has designed these books over three thousand years to be a source of inspiration for us, day by day.

We need God to take care of our past, our present life and our future. And he does. He helps us to forgive. He can be an inspiration for our decisions today, and his future provides the perspective we need for our life, beyond death. (Roland Potthast) ... more texts
